Dassault has begun a new round of deliveries of Rafale fighter jets to Egypt, expanding the modernization of the Egyptian Air Force amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
According to information from the website Militarnyi, the aircraft are part of a contract signed in 2021 for the purchase of 31 additional Rafale fighter jets.
The 2021 contract, valued at around €3.75 billion, complements Egypt’s initial purchase of 24 Rafales made in 2015.
Once all deliveries are completed, the country is expected to operate a fleet of 55 aircraft of the model, making it the largest Rafale operator outside Europe.

The Rafale is considered one of today’s leading Western fighter jets, capable of carrying out air superiority, ground attack, reconnaissance and maritime warfare missions.
Analysts say Egypt has been accelerating military investments to strengthen its regional position and diversify arms suppliers beyond the United States and Russia.
The new deliveries also come at a time of growing Egyptian military activity in the Middle East. Recently, Egyptian Rafale fighter jets were sent to the United Arab Emirates in operations linked to rising tensions involving Iran.
